So, how do you get the Rebtel message of peace and love across the country to as many people as possible, in a the shortest amount of time, and with the lowest cost possible? Be creative, imaginative - and don’t forget to actually execute on the idea…

I was speaking with Darren when the idea of having a solid and attractive billboard for Rebtel came up. That billboard was Darren’s house! Before undertaking the effort, Darren was courteous enough to check with his neighbors to ensure that they were supportive. Within a week, the garage was painted and the Rebtel signs started showing up. A few days later, CNBC, Business Week, and other media started writing about it and turning up with their camera crews.

As soon as the CNBC piece aired, I received no less than 20 emails from other interested individuals ranging from painting their buildings to sponsoring the launch of their new sites. I wish everyone all the best, but for now we’ll keep Darren’s house as the model home.

As for Darren, he is a convert to Rebtel and is enjoying the service. And, in every story, there is hero. In this case, kudos goes to Darren’s wife for being such a sport about this project. Hopefully, Darren bought her the gift that she well deserves.
